Business Builder Bootcamp Unit 1

By now you’ve had the opportunity to complete your pre-program survey and you’ve gained a better understanding of what you will learn during this Bootcamp.

If you haven’t already completed the pre-survey, take the time to do it now by clicking the link below.

Roadmap

Use this roadmap to guide you through the program. It will keep you on track with your goals and help you prepare for what is ahead as you shape and manage your companies. Click on the image to enlarge it.

You will always be able to access it through the jaskn.org/resources link.

As mentioned in the Official Welcome, your journey is focused on experiential learning (that means you will be learning by doing). You’ll do great!

The learning experience is divided into three parts: skill-based learning, practical application and mentorship assistance.

We have partnered with some experts and experienced business volunteers to deliver tips and important techniques for you to use during key aspects of enterprise development. You may use some or all. The important thing is that you understand your options in creating the best possible business venture.

Skill-based Learning 1 – Creating an App

So, let’s get started with a fun one: building an App. Only a few short years ago, you had to be a techy geek to create an app. If you struggled with coding, your chances of creating an App on your own would have been zero!!

But not anymore.

Tara Reed is an amazing entrepreneur out of Detroit, Michigan, where she is CEO of her own, fast-growing company, Kollecto. As a non-technical founder, Tara built Kollecto’s app without writing a single line of code. She frequently blogs about how to ‘build without code’ and has inspired hundreds of non-technical founders to launch their own apps, using what she calls a ‘code-free toolkit’.

Tara sent us this video to help inspire you as you prepare to create your own business app later in the program.

Get ready to take lots of notes. After today, you can access the video in jaskn.org/resources.

Group Exercise

After viewing the video above, divide into groups and create the design for an app. It can be for any target group you decide, as long as you can demonstrate that it will somehow make life easier for your target audience. When you have fully discussed and agreed on a design, click on the link below to record the details.

The app you will design now is not intended to be the app you will create for your business venture. You will do that later in the program.
